Master’s Scholarships for Public Policy and Good Governance
The Helmut-Schmidt-Program was created to encourage quality future leaders in politics, law, economics, and administration and prepare them for their professional life. The program is focused on outstanding graduates with a first university degree offering them the possibility to obtain a Master’s degree in those relevant disciplines for the social, political, and economic development.
Students who want to partake of the Helmut-Schmidt-Program can orientate toward one the following courses:
- Hertie School of Governance, Berlin: Master of Public Policy (MPP)
- University Duisburg-Essen: Master of Development and Governance
- Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt: Master of Public Policy (MPP)
- Leuphania University Lüneburg: Public Economics, Law and Politics (PELP)
- Hochschule Osnabrück: Management in Nonprofit Organizations
- University of Osnabrück: A. Democratic Governance and Civil Society
- University Passau: Master of Governance and Public Policy
- University Potsdam: Master of Public Management (MPM)
Who can apply for the program?
Students who own a Bachelor’s program or equivalent are eligible to apply for the program and who want to actively contribute to the social and economic development of their home countries. Mid-career professionals and graduates without a professional experience can submit their applications. Candidates from the following regions are invited to apply: Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia as well as from countries in the Middle East. Applications must be submitted in English or German and entrants must indicate that they are applying for the DAAD Helmut-Schmidt Program. Students must select one or two of the above mentioned Master’s programs and for the scholarship as well. The application process is open from June 1st until June 31st 2018.
