Australia Awards – Africa Program is Offering Ph.D. Fellowships to Ghanaian, Kenyan or South African Universities

Funded by the Australian Government, Australia Awards Postdoctoral Fellowships is open for application for the 2018/ 2019 academic year creating an extraordinary opportunity for the next generation of global leaders. In 2018, the Australia Government is planning to release the Australia Awards – Africa program available for Ph.D. students who will be rewarded with substantial fellowships. The program considers Ghanaian, Kenyan or South African Universities as affiliated hence the Ph.D. Fellowships will provide support for African students studying at a Ghanaian, Kenyan or South African University.

Fellowships will cover a two year study comprised of research components in Australia and Ghana, Kenya or South Africa but limited to one year in Australia. The program is aimed to help Africans gin skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to sustainable economic and social development outcomes in their home countries. Also, the program is destined to contribute to building a solid link between Africa and Australia.

The Australia Awards – Africa Program comprises a variety of scholarships and fellowships for Master’s and Ph.D. students undertaking courses in fields such as civil society, public society, and private sectors in targeted disciplines. The program is extremely competitive and dedicated to a specific target. In order to be considered, students must comply with the following admission requirements:

They must be citizens of an eligible African country. Entrants must be studying in South Africa, Ghana or Kenya and must have the right to reside and work in one of these countries. They must be at least 25 and not more than 50 by the time of their application. Also, entrants must not be married, engaged to a person who holds an Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency. Their field of research ought to be aligned to Agricultural Productivity, Health and Science and Technology.
